Mitt Romney's introduction of Paul Ryan in Norfolk was marred by a surprising slip, when the presidential hopeful introduced his VP pick as "the next president of the United States."
Romney caught himself, laughing, and put his arm around Ryan. He acknowledged he sometimes makes mistakes, then said, " I didn ' t make a mistake with this guy. "
It was a good mop - up on an unfortunate moment at a historic event.
UPDATE: NBC's Brian Williams just noted that then-candidate Barack Obama did the same thing in 2008 with Joe Biden.
